Bahrain Victorious at the Czech Tour!

Another big news for the Czech Tour as another star-packed line-up is on board! Bahrain Victorious is the sixth World Tour team to confirm their participation. It is already certain that cycling fans have something to look forward to at the end of July.

"Bahrain Victorious is another attraction for fans. The team will undoubtedly bring exceptional energy to the peloton," praises Leopold König, race director of the Czech Tour.

The roster of the Bahrain Victorious team includes Matej Mohoric, the Slovenian rider who won the opening Milan-San Remo Monument of the 2022 season. The twenty-nine-year old Slovenian's unforgettable attack in the final descent, when he shook off his rivals thanks to a technical innovation in the form of a telescopic seatpost, made history. The participant of twelve Grand Tours also won three stages at the Tour de France and also one stage both at the Vuelta and the Giro.

A thirty-six-year old matador Wout Poels (in the photo) was Leopold König's teammate in the 2015 and 2016 seasons in the then Sky formation. He has won the oldest classic, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and celebrated stage wins at the Tour de France and the Vuelta during his twenty-three Grand Tour starts.

Other stars wear the Bahrain Victorious jersey. Spaniard Pello Bilbao has ridden fifteen Grand Tours, celebrated a stage triumph at the Tour de France last year and achieved two Giro wins. Colombian Santiago Buitrago always won at least one stage at the Giro in the previous two years. Australian Jack Haig can be proud of the third place in the final standings of the 2021 Vuelta. Italian Damiano Caruso has stage wins from both the Giro and the Vuelta. Also on the roster there is the World Tour's second oldest rider, Yukiya Arashiro, who will turn 40 in September, and is riding his eighth season for Bahrain Victorious and has participated in sixteen Grand Tours.

One of the spors directors of the Bahraini sheikhs' squad is a former pro cyclist Roman Kreuziger, who is the best-ever Czech rider in final results of Grand Tour with the fifth place at the 2011 Giro and 2013 Tour de France. After retiring in 2021, he became the sports director at Bahrain Victorious.

The 2024 Czech Tour promises to be an absolutely unique spectacle. Besides others, the participation has been confirmed by UAE Team Emirates, Visma-Lease and Bike, Intermaché-Wanty, Bora-hansgrohe, DSM-Firmenich PostNL.

And after some severe crashes during the spring season and subsequent injuries of some of the superstars, nominations for the individual events remain open. So it is possible that at the Czech Tour, which will take place between 25-28 July, we might see some of the best WorldTour cyclists.

It is certain that Lidl-Trek will also be represented - the Lidl-Trek Future Racing Development team with the reigning Czech champion Mathias Vacek will be present at the start. The fans will also see the elite Czech teams Elkov Kasper and ATT Investments with the current time trial champion Jakub Otruba.
