Czech Tour: Intermarché-Wanty and Visma-Lease a Bike confirmed

Two more teams from the top level of world road cycling have confirmed their participation in this year's Czech Tour race. The biggest current Visma-Lease a Bike (formerly Jumbo Visma) team will send its line-up and riders from Intermarché-Wanty will also be at the start. Four WorldTour teams are already on the roster, supplemented by selections from the lower Pro and Continental categories.

Race director Leopold König knows that interest in the Czech Tour is already growing five months before the start. Last year, three WorldTour teams were on the roster. "It's nice to see that the Czech Tour is establishing in the calendars of the best. The participation of Visma-Lease a Bike confirms this," said former pro rider, whose cycling CV includes a stint with Sky, a former top world team.

Last year, the yellow and black jerseys of Visma-Lease a Bike captured the complete trio of Grand Tours - the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the Vuelta. Although Giro winner Primož Roglič (in the colours of Bora-hansgrohe since this year) left the star-studded line-up, a look at the roster continues to inspire respect.

What a name, what a concept: two-time Tour winner Jonas Vingegaard, spring classics champion and tireless worker Wout Van Aert, superdomestique, Vuelta winner Sepp Kuus, Dylan van Baarle, Christophe Laporte...

Eritrean star Biniam Girmay or Louis Meintjes stand out the most in Intermarché-Wanty. "That's just a glimpse and it will definitely be interesting to see how the season develops, because it's the Czech Tour courses that could convince the stable bosses to send some elite riders to the start of the Vuelta," points out Leopold König.

Already at the beginning of the year, the teams Bora-hansgrohe, which won the overall victory last year thanks to Florian Lipowitz, and DSM-Firmenich PostNL were confirmed to start. Bora's stars such as Lennard Kämna, Jai Hindley and Daniel Felipe Martínez will be joined this year by the aforementioned Roglič. In the Dutch DSM team we can find stalwarts like Romain Bardet, Warren Barguil or John Degenkolb.

In addition to the elite, there are also teams from the lower categories, but they are not absent from the Grand Tour peloton. For example, Uno-X Mobility, whose riders were very active in the breakaways at the Tour de France last year.

Lidl-Trek Future Cycling will not be missing either. The Czech champion Mathias Vacek should present his colours on home soil. Czech pro-racers Elkov-Kasper and ATT Investments are also planning to send their riders.
