Although the start of this year’s SAZKA Tour is still several months away, preparations are already in full swing. The race will take place at the traditional locations from 4th to 7thAugust, 2022.
As usual, the riders will travel through picturesque parts of the Olomouc, Moravian-Silesian, Pardubice and Zlín regions, and the routes will also include mountain and sprint bonuses. In the spring we will release details of the routes for this year’s four stages.
"Our long-term goal is to make the SAZKA Tour one of the most prestigious cycling events in the world, and we intend to continue this process this year," promises race director Leopold König, himself a former elite racer.
Part of this is to attract World Tour category teams to compete. This has always been acieved in the past, and it is also the task of the organizers this year. For example, last year World Tour teams BikeExchange and Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux, with Jan Hirt in the roster, came to Prostějov. In the past, units such as Bora-hansgrohe, Jumbo-Visma, Etixx - Quick-Step and Sunweb have participated.
We are also preparing some new features for this year. One of them is a hobby cyclist race. You can also be sure that the organizers will have more in store, so the fans definitely have something to look forward to.
SAZKA Tour, formerly known as the Czech Tour, is the most prestigious cycling race held in the Czech Republic. It is an annual event for professional cyclists, and in recent years they have come from all over the world. Since 2015, it has been included in the UCI Europe Tour 2.1 category. The only multiple winner is Leopold König, the current race director, who won twice (2010 and 2013). In previous years, in addition to popular Czech representatives such as Zdeněk Štybar, Petr Vakoč, Josef Černý and František Raboň, international stars such as Julian Alaphilippe, Primož Roglič, Fernando Gaviria, Victor Campenaerts, Daryl Impey, Felix Großschartner, Tim Merlier and Jan Bakelants have also competed here.
