The history of cycling race Czech Tour (former SAZKA Tour) started in 2009 under the name Czech Cycling Tour and its second edition was won by the current director of the race Leopold König. The event has quickly improved its quality and became a part of the 1st Category of UCI Europe Tour. Since that the race has become the most prestigious, greatest international road cycling event with the best racers participating in it. Thanks to its reputation of beautiful and safe race its popularity among the stage-races in Europe has been ever increasing. The objective of the current director Leopold König is to get the quality of the organisation of the event as close to World Tour races as possible.
